Man With Scissors Arrested Outside Of Miley Cyrus' Home

LOS ANGELES -- A man allegedly clutching a pair of scissors was arrested after police say he tried to force himself inside the Los Angeles home of Miley Cyrus.

Los Angeles police Lt. Brian Wendling says that employees inside the house in the Studio City area called police around 4 a.m. Saturday after the man came to the door and claimed to be a friend of the 19-year-old singer-actress.

Wendling says the suspect then repeatedly threw himself against an outside wall as if he was trying to break into the house. Cyrus was not home at the time.

The man, who was not identified, was arrested after officers saw him jump behind some bushes. He was carrying a pair of scissors.

Wendling says charges have not yet been filed.

LOOK: 13-Year-Old Arrested For Grand Theft Auto

A 13-year-old Miami girl was arrested Monday for stealing her aunt’s Infiniti G35 -- and taking three young cousins on a joyride.

According to police, Fabersha Jackson's visiting aunt left her three children -- a five-year-old, infant, and newborn -- with Fabersha's 17-year-old sister to go get food. But when she returned, her car and children were gone.

Police were alerted, and officers shortly pulled Fabersha over about 4 miles from the house with the three children in the car. The teen told police that she wanted to go to the store with a friend and took her cousins along since her older sister was sleeping.

"The girl is only 13 years old, she doesn't even know how to drive. She could've ran a stop sign, hit someone, ran a red light, with a baby in the car with her-- a newborn baby," family friend, Branden Jones, told WSVN.

After her aunt "insisted" on pressing charges, according to police, Fabersha was held overnight on grand theft auto charges at the Miami-Dade Juvenile Assessment Center.

“Ms. Jackson stated that she was sorry for what she did, but was trying to get home before her mother and auntie arrived,” the arresting officer wrote.

Fabersha isn’t the only child who has been caught behind the wheel. Last year in Michigan, a 7-year-old boy drove 20 miles to see his father. In China, a 4-year-old girl drove a car while her father sat in the passenger seat.

And in May, a 8-year-old Boston boy reversed his family’s luxury car into his neighbor’s home.

DETROIT -- A man suspected of fatally shooting two men and seriously wounding two others had to turn himself in twice before Detroit police would arrest him, authorities said.

Detroit police said the 36-year-old man got into an argument at a party on Saturday, retrieved a gun and opened fire. Four people were shot, and two died. The man turned himself in at a fire station about two hours later, and fire officials called police, but no officers turned up.

Police said in a statement that "due to area patrol units being busy handling high priority runs, no units were dispatched to the location."

The man eventually went to a police station, where he was arrested.

Police Chief Ralph Godbee said he has ordered an investigation into why no patrol car was sent to the fire station.

Police should have made "every effort to ensure that this person was taken into custody," he said in the statement sent late Saturday by the department.

Police spokeswoman Sgt. Eren Stephens told The Associated Press on Sunday that the department would examine what police units were doing at the time the suspect tried to surrender, including whether they might have been involved in other aspects of the shooting investigation.

Police did not immediately release the name of the suspect or the victims or provide details on the shooting investigation. They said the men who were shot ranged in age from 19 to 37.

Detroit police have undergone serious personnel cuts under Mayor Dave Bing's state-supervised effort to close a large budget deficit and avoid a state financial takeover. The city recently imposed a 10 percent pay cut and 12-hour work day for officers.

Stephens said the police department wouldn't immediately comment on the adequacy of its staffing.

Bing spokeswoman Naomi Patton said Sunday that the mayor's office "had nothing else to say beyond what's in the police statement."

82-Year-Old Career Criminal Arrested AGAIN

Doris Thompson's 20-page rap sheet dates back to 1955.

The 82-year-old career criminal was arrested again late last month in El Segundo for an alleged string of doctors' office burglaries that began in March and netted her $17,000, according to the Los Angeles Times.

This time, police said a detective, who had dealt with Thompson before, recognized Thompson from a security camera video from one of her alleged crimes.

Court records obtained by the Times show Thompson has been imprisoned at least nine times for burglary in Los Angeles and Orange counties.

The Daily Breeze reports that, in 1957, police arrested Thompson in connection with a homicide, but she was deemed insane and committed to a hospital.

Thompson's rap sheet also includes arrests for disturbing the peace, forgery and grand theft. When she was arrested for her latest alleged burglaries, "she advised detectives that her arrest was a case of mistaken identity," Torrance police Sgt. Robert Watt said.

Gawker doesn't see Thompson changing her ways.

"Even if she beats the rap, it's a safe bet she'll be a similar situation again soon," Taylor Berman writes.
